Transparent video is an emerging technology that Wix has newly added as an exclusive feature in its editor. It transcends the limitations of traditional MP4 streaming by using invisible backgrounds to create transparent effects.
In this tutorial we’ll walk you through using this feature and introduce you to a new, wide range of creative visuals that are now at your fingertips. They even have the ability to match the colors of your website’s design.
Another impressive part of this feature is the ability to upload any video format that contains an “alpha channel” (the transparent part). Through an automated process the video is converted into a MP4 file that can be played on any browser with a transparent background. This opens up a world of new possibilities and design freedom for any Wix website when using this feature on video files.
Finding the right creative partners
The work and development process of this feature was inspired by the creative community, and so it only seemed right to involve them in the product. As part of the process, artists and illustrators were invited to create unique works to be featured as transparent videos. Artists whose works were commissioned include Tom Kariv Emil Friman Levi Jacobs Josep Prat Sorolla Sasha Katz Amigo Total and Sofia Hydman.
