Hey, it’s Henry from the Wix Studio team, here to help you get started with Wix Multilingual.
Wix Multilingual helps you take your clients’ content even further–literally. With this one app, you can choose from 180 languages to localize an entire site and speak to audiences anywhere.
So in this tutorial, let’s look at how you can add and get started with Wix Multilingual.
To add Multilingual, open the app store or open the Add panel in the Studio Editor, click Multilingual then click Add to site.
Next, pick your main site language from the drop-down and set the flag to your primary locale.
This’ll be the default language for visitors viewing your site, and can’t be changed after you set it here. So choose carefully, then click Continue.
You’ll have the option to choose a secondary site language from the drop-down and change the flag of your locale. And you can always add more languages later on.
Click the “Make your site visible to visitors” toggle to make your secondary language visible or keep it hidden:
If this is on, visitors will be able to see and browse the site’s content in your secondary language once you publish it.
If it’s off, those secondary languages will be hidden.
You can always change this setting later.
Next, click the Auto-translate site content toggle to translate your site with third-party services, like Google.
If you turn this on, you’ll get 3000 word credits for free when auto-translating. If you need more word credits to translate your site, click Compare translation packages.
To translate your site's content manually by entering your own translations, leave the toggle off…
And when you’re finished, click Add Language.
Then to review your automatic translation, or add manual translations, Go to Translate, next to your language.
From here manually add your own translations review machine translations or replace images to localize your site even further.
When you’re finished, just hit Save.
Next up, change this from Hidden to Visible to make that new language visible to your site visitors and search engines.
Then, back in the Studio Editor, add a language menu from the Add Panel, under Multilingual and customize it to fit your site’s branding.
And, to make your localized site pages live, head to the Editor and hit Publish.
And that’s it. You’re ready to add multiple languages to your client sites.
