Hello, I'm working on my website, and as now when a new member comes in and creates an account, the account is by default created as private, and so myself as an admin I can't even access this member profile, if they don't accept to put their account public (see image). Does anybody has any tips to change this default value ?
Thanks
I definitely agree that there should be a way to make existing members public! I have a lot of people that I was hoping to transfer from a previous site’s database, and will now unfortunately need everyone to signup again on my new Wix site so that their profiles will be made public. I go into more depth here:

Hello again.
Regarding switching existing private members to public:
I think a very tactful way to encourage somebody to switch to public is to create a forum if you don't already have one.
Create a good reason for members to visit the forum (provide input, check it out, how do you like it...etc)
By default, the only way they can enter the forum is by changing their profile to public...this is great because you won't have to actually ask someone to reluctantly change private information to public...let Wix do it for you!
Hi for the existing members, you can add the "My Account" Page to their Login Bar. When they go to their "My Account" Page they would be able to click the button "Make Profile Public". You can ask the existing members to do this to make their profile public.
I contacted the Wix customer service about this issue. They told me that there is no direct solution or workaround for switching all the existing members to public.
It will be passed on to the expert team and "hopefully" be implemented in the future.
@KEVIN H Thank you for the idea. At least new members will be public then.
I have a partial solution that has worked.
If you use the default sign up form it should contain a field "Join the community" that is checked by default.
When I created a custom form, I had the option to add this "join the community" field. I didn't. The result? New members that are private by default.
I went back to my custom form, went to "add field" and clicked on "join the commmunity" you then have to go into this field's setting and check "join the community" is checked by default. I also checked the option to make it mandatory.
Although I'm in the process of asking the private members to change it to public, at least the new members will now default to "public"
Sooooooooo has there been a fix to this yet? I have 25 people signed up but they're all private...how do I change this? I'm going out of my mind trying to figure out how to fix this so that they're public by default.
@Emi Have the same issue. Were you able to resolve this?
Hi GOS, I'm trying to do the same (make profiles public to other members by default).
I'm using the Wix Forum app, and the Members Profile page within that. Each user has a custom url, but they still dont appear in the member search unless they confirm they want their profile to be public - do you know if there is a way around this? My concern is that most people won't go to the hassle of making their profile public.
When you say that you want a members profile to be made public, do you mean for other members to see it or for the general public to be able to see it?
If it is public for other members to see, then you can make use of the Wix Members apps own Profile page and each member has their own Community Page URL that they can give out, which will allow other logged in members to be able to see that members profile.

If you want to make a members profile public to everybody, then you might be safer using a separate dataset for this and allowing the site member to add whatever data that they actually want to be shown to the general public rather than just having all of their member details shown to the public.
Note for example, that members might want to have a telephone number or email address shown to the public, whereas they use their own telephone number or works email address which they want to keep private.
You can just use the Wix Members app own collection and use Wix Data Options to bypass, so that you can show all the members details to the public.

This was talked about in this previous forum post here.
