Now your site visitors can enter and search for addresses in the Address Input element!
They’ll receive address suggestions directly from Google Maps Autocomplete as they type.
You can find the Address Input Editor element under User Input in the Add panel.
What can you do with Address Input?
Display the entered address in a Google Maps element.
Calculate and recommend the branch of your business closest to your site visitor.
Filter and sort page content based on the entered address.
Build a custom form that accepts a physical address from visitors. No code required, simply connect the Address Input to a field of type address in a database collection.
Note that Wix Forms does not support Address Input yet.
Check out the AddressInput Editor Element API.
Important: You need to get your own API key from Google to activate your Address Input elements. Make sure to restrict this key to avoid fees. Learn how.
That's it. We’re here for questions, and of course, feedback is much appreciated!
Enjoy :)
"No code required, simply connect the Address Input to a field of type address in a database collection."
I did that; in the preview mode it works (the address I type gets stored in my content management data collection) but in live version does not work.
Any reason why?
When site visitor enter free text in the address input, according to documentation, formatted address should be available but nothing is being stored. It stays undefined and only works if a selection is made from the suggested address drop down. This doesn't work with code or utilizing datasets for updating an address.
I need to be sure the address can be captured and updated regardless of how its inputted. The only time I can get a free text value is in an OnCustomValidation for the address component.
Can anyone help or tell me why? This is holding me up from pushing the service I'm trying to provide and this is the second year I've paid for wix and been unable to truly rely on and deploy my business.
Hi. I have the same issue and I see that Wix Forms still doesn't support Address Input yet. My multiple-step form is too long to customize but must be accurate, anyone had the same issue and came up with a great idea to get around this?
There seems to be a problem for me.. I tried using this feature but there was no recognition while typing or after i finished typing the address, meaning that the user input behaved exactly like any other text entry
Sorry, can't find it. The google address field is on the second step of this multistep form: https://www.silversharers .com/i-have-a-room-form (is that the issue perhaps?)
No worries. The easiest way in my opinion is to download the Wix app to your mobile and add the "Corvid by Wix" Place. Please let me know if this doesn't work for you.
Hi @Eyal Michael Cohen, I have the same issue as @Michael Bly . My API appears correctly connected, the address field is connected to the Dataset (as an 'Address' type) and my Dataset is now Write-only. However the address entered appears on the form but is not appearing in the associated Collection. Do you have any other thoughts, please?
I have implemented it and it works great on the front end of the form, however it does not appear in the form submission table. How do I connect it?
Hello, how do I add google autocomplete to my wix form address field?
I am implementing the Wix Address Input Element to allow users to autofill their address within a form.
I have connected the element to Google Maps Places API via an API key. However, no dropdown appears suggesting addresses.
I have spent some time researching 'home made' solutions using JavaScript. Yet surely there is a far simpler solution.
I'd be very grateful if someone could tell me where I'm going wrong.
Hey, I have the API key set up, but can't find the button that says "Connect to Google Maps" on the address input field like displayed here: https://support.wix.com/en/article/connect-google-maps
Saw it about a month or so ago but now I can't find it.
Hi may I know if this AddressInput feature is built with session token in place - where the AutoCompleteSessionToken is used as described here https://developers-dot-devsite-v2-prod.appspot.com/maps/documentation/javascript/places-autocomplete#session_tokens
Thanks shan, I will give that a try! How do I create a new project, do i need to log out or create a new one on the same account?
Hi Eyal, I was just trying this out, but can't seem to enable the api on google cloud, which I was already loggin into via stackdriver site monitoring. I get the following message: IAM: you have insufficient permissions to enable or disable services and APIs for this project. Contact a project owner to request permissions.
Many thanks,
Michiel
Hi Eyal, awesome feature!
(edit) Works like a charm, thanks! Don't know if it had anything to do with it but I changed the addressInput(first template) for another (third template). And it works perfect.
--I have put an addressInput on my home page, connected to Google API and a collection through a dataset. Now when the dropdown appears from Google and I click the address suggestion I wish to choose, that address doesn't appear in the addressInput. And when hitting submitButton it gives validity error, as the Google suggestion is not moved to the addressInput when clicked so it doesn't register a location value (I guess...) Any ideas?
No Corvid code on homepage at the moment.--
Hi Eyal, I think the problem is solved (I just checked it). Thanks
Can work this Function in "WIX forum"???
Hi, I have the same problem. The address input is overlapping even if I send it to the back (tested it on other pages).
Hey @Eyal Michael Cohen
Address input element is showing on top of the header (overlapping) even when 'Sent to back' https://dudelemonweb.wixsite.com/marketplace/address
Rest of the user input elements are not doing this.
Hi sorry for causing trouble. Can help me through this link I have provided. Thank you very much.
